Week 53

Hey!
How was everyone's week? :) We had a TON of appointments get canceled. So that was kind of the pits! But it'll get better this week I'm sure.. :)

Haha so the guy sitting next to me at the library is hilarious. He looks pretty rough with all of his earrings and stuff.. but he's definitely a child of God. :) Haha he just tapped me on the arm and gave me a mint. Then he said, "Sharing is caring!" Haha I gotta share the gospel with him. I'm going to give him the Easter video to look up :)
Boom I just did it. And I told him that sharing is caring. Haha. We'll see if he looks it up!

So Corinne got baptized this week!!! Her ex-husband came to it as well. So hopefully his heart was softened so that Carley can get baptized next! I'm just so excited for her :) She's such an amazing lady!

Gaby and Sergio also got married this week! Aren't they just the cutest? Haha I love them. They should be getting baptized in about 2 weeks from now. So pray that that'll go through!! :) They're so close!

I was reading in 2 Nephi 9:8 today about the resurrection. I really like verse 8. It says, "O the wisdom of God, his mercy and grace! For behold, if the flesh should rise no more our spirits must become subject to that angel who fell from before the presence of the Eternal God, and became the devil, to rise no more." So I was thinking, without Christ, we wouldn't be able to be resurrected. And if we weren't resurrected, we would be subject to Satan! How scary is that? I know that Jesus Christ overcame physical and spiritual death for all of us. He loves us perfectly and wants us to be prepared to live with him and our Heavenly Father again someday! I know that He lives.

I love you all so much! Have a great Easter and General Conference weekend! :)

Week 52

Well hello everyone! :)
So my trainer, Sister Goaslind, just got engaged this week!.. anyone else?? Haha my goodness people. You're killing me.

This week we've really been trying to talk to people about Christ and his resurrection. We've been sharing Mosiah 16:7-9 with a lot with people when we contact. It says,
"7 And if Christ had not risen from the dead, or have broken the bands of death that the grave should have no victory, and that death should have no sting, there could have been no resurrection.

8 But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.

9 He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death."

Have you ever thought about what life would be like if Christ hadn't risen from the tomb 3 days after he was crucified? There would be no hope!! I love the phrase in verse 8 when it says, the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ. I know that's true. Death is not the end! Jesus Christ is the light and life of the world. Because he died for us, we will all live again. And we can all live for him now!

I'm sure you all saw the Because of Him video last Easter. Well on Saturday, a new video will be released. It's called Because He Lives. I saw it and it's powerful!! I challenge you all to share it with a non-member friend after you watch it. Deal? :)   Let me know how it goes! I love you all so much!! Have a great week!

Week 51

Wow. Seriously everyone and their dog is getting married! What is up with that?! Congrats to Hailey, Mataya, Alexys, and Sarah though. I still love you guys even though you're getting married without me!

We had a pretty great week this week! We had 3 of our investigators come to church! So that was bomb. And all 3 of them are preparing for baptism! So please pray for Brother Carey, Bianca, and Angelika. :) Oh and Emily got baptized!!! So I got to go back to Puyallup South for that! She was so stinking cute. I'm so proud of her! :) She's seriously the most prepared person that I've ever met.

We had a lesson with Angelika this week and it. was. AWESOME. She starting reading the Book of Mormon again and has been highlighting it like crazy and applying it to her life. Most of our lesson was spent with her reading verses that she marked and what they meant to her. It was so cool!! I know that Heavenly Father truly loves and cares for his children INDIVIDUALLY. I feel like I was sent back to this area to help Angelika to more fully come unto Christ. I'm so grateful that I can be an instrument in the Lord's hands! This gospel changes lives.

So I've been trying to re-memorize The Living Christ recently. I did it once for youth conference but I just don't have it all the way down anymore... so I'm trying again! If you have a hard time focusing during the sacrament, that's always a good thing that you can read. I love my Savior Jesus Christ.I know that He lives! I hope and pray that you're all doing things to grow closer to Him. :)

I love you all so much! Have a great week!! :)

Week 50

Hey!
How was everyone's week? I feel like mine has been complete dejavu.(I don't know how to spell that.Ha) It's so weird to be back in Federal Way!! But I'm pumped. And I think the young women were as well! We went to mutual the other night and we walked in and one of the leaders said, "The Sisters are back!!" Then everyone just started cheering! Haha it was awesome. :) Then we dropped by at Olivia and Destiny's (recent converts) and Destiny opens the door, gives me a hug and says, "I missed you!!" Haha it was adorable. I just love all of these people. I'm excited to be back :)

So my new companion is Sister Bailey! She's from Utah (Like most of my other companions. Ha) She's SO great though. I got lucky cause I swear she came pre-trained. She's a hard worker and is doing her best to overcome her fears. So I really admire that. We're going to have a great time together. :)

The other day we were knocked on an investigators door that the elders were working with. Her mom answered and didn't seem like she was in a good mood at all. She expressed that she was frustrated that the boys had kept knocking on her door especially when her daughter wasn't home. So we let her pretty much unload on us without us hardly saying a word! Then she started telling us about some family problems that she was having and how she was a victim of domestic violence. We kept listening and then when the time was right, I asked her if we could share a scripture with her. I pulled out the Book of Mormon and shared Ether 12:27 and boy, did she get excited! She's this awesome black lady who did this little dance after I read the scripture and then said, "Is that in my Bible?! I like that!" Haha so we explained to her a little bit about the Book of Mormon and she said that the boys had given her daughter one. So we wrote down Ether 12 and invited her to read the whole chapter. She said that she would! So we're hoping and praying that that softened her heart and that she'll let us start teaching her and her daughter soon!

I know that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God. I know that the words in it are true! And that they can help us in our every day lives. I'm really trying to share the Book of Mormon more as we contact! So if you come up with any good questions and scriptures for me to use, let me know. :) Also, if you haven't checked out this video about the Book of Mormon, you need to. :) https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2011-11-018-a-book-of-mormon-story?lang=eng
I love you all so much!! Have a good week!

Week 49

Oh boy oh boy.. I want to die. Transfer calls came Sunday night and guess who's leaving?! Yep. Me. I cried. Haha. I'm SO sad to leave Sister Webb! We only got to be companions for 1 transfer! Haha we knew it was too good to be true. She's gonna be my best friend for life now though. :) I'm sad to leave these two areas as well.. There are so many good things happening!! And their should be a marriage and 4 baptisms this week. So we're really praying that that'll go through so that I can come back for it all!

So I'm going back to Federal Way and I'll be serving in Star Lake ward again! How crazy is that?! I about died when President called me. And then I seriously died when he told me that I'm training a new missionary. Haha I have no clue what I'm doing.. I swear I just barely came out!! But I hit a year this month. CRAAAAZY.

It's amazing the power that comes as we read from the Book of Mormon. We've been challenging a less active couple to read 4 chapters before each of our visits and they've been doing it! I know that as they continue to do it, they'll become active again. I think I told you that we also introduced our newer investigators, Abraham and Melissa, to the Book of Mormon and the gospel library app. They said that they started listening/reading it! That lesson that we had with them was SO powerful because as we taught, the Holy Ghost testified of truth. Sister Webb and I both just have a love for that book and so we were able to explain it like it was the best book that we've ever read. Which it is! I know that the Book of Mormon truly is the most correct book on earth.

I love this scripture in 2 Nephi 32:3. (Sorry if I've shared it before) But it says, "Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do."
I know that as we truly feast upon the scriptures we will find answers to our prayers, our life will be better, and we'll more fully come to know the love of our Father in Heaven and Savior. I love you all so much! Talk to you next week. :)

Sister Flamm
