Week 38

Hello!

I hope everyone's doing alright! This week has been pretty great! I love my new area and my new companion. Haha Sister Pearson is so great!! We have so much fun together. :) And she's definitely helping me out so much! She goes home at the end of this transfer though. So that's the pits! But we'll have a good 5 weeks together. :)

So I'm in Puyallup South and we live in a house and we have the whole thing to ourselves! Haha we are so spoiled right now. It's pretty fantastic. :) We even have a dishwasher and an oven that works! Ha I'm pretty pumped. :)

Alright so we were contacting a referral the other day, but they weren't home. We then saw that their neighbor was outside so we started walking over there to talk to him. As we were walking his dog bolted at us and kept trying to jump on us. It was super annoying... but we kept trying to talk to this guy about his family and the gospel and things. So as we were talking to him his dog kept sniffing my boot. I kept trying to shew him away, but it just wasn't happening! So I decided to just ignore it. I then turned and looked over at Sister Pearson and her eyes got HUGE. She then pointed at my feet and started freaking out. Then.. I felt it. And it definitely wasn't the Spirit! Ha this dog PEED ON MY LEG AND BOOT! Haha I thought I was going to die... I'm telling ya.. It was the worst thing ever!!! How does that even happen?? Geez. SMH. I couldn't even believe it. And what do we do? We laugh and then keep talking to this guy about the gospel! Want to know the worst part of it though? He wasn't interested. -_- Haha for real.. that guy owes me. I'm going to go back and tell him that he has to at least let me teach him the Restoration! #NEVERgettingapet#ever

But on a better note, we had 4 investigators come to church yesterday! We were pretty happy about that. :) The members here are awesome and are really fellowshipping all of these people. I'll tell you more about them in my letter home or something though. :)

Well I can't think of what else happened this week.. so I guess that's all. :) Haha I love you guys so much! Thank you for all of the prayers! I can feel them working in my life. :) I know that prayer is real. I know that Heavenly Father loves us SO much that He sent His Son to earth so that we could make it back Home again someday. I love my Savior. He lives! And I'm so grateful for him in my life because I have so many weaknesses! But I know that because of Him I can become better. :) Let's all do what we can to bring more unto Him! #sharethegift :)

Love,
Sister Flamm

Week 37

Hello!

Man.. I feel so bad for my favorite little Skyler!! It breaks my heart to see him struggling! I'll keep him in my prayers for sure. I can't believe that him and Ethan both have been diagnosed with diabetes at such young ages! I hope and pray that the doctors will be able to continue to help him though. You guys are killing me. Stop it with all the sicknesses and stuff!

Speaking about sicknesses.. I was pretty sick to my stomach when our phone rang the other night! We were at a member's house at like 9p.m. and were trying to get out the door. While we were there we kept getting a bunch of texts from like everyone and their dog. Then as we were walking out to the car, our phone started ringing. I took it out of my pocket, looked at it, and saw that President Eaton was calling. And I was like oh crap. So I answered and President says, "Sister Flamm! Thank you for being such an amazing missionary. You have been called to serve as a Sister Training Leader." I was like, "Are you kidding me right now?!" Then Pres. said, "I'm dead serious!" He then told me to pull out a piece of paper and started giving me some instructions. What in the world?! That totally blind sighted me. You're supposed to train before you become a sister training leader. But apparently I'm an exception to the rules! Ha geez.. I don't even know what is going on. When I had my interview with Elder Hamula he mentioned that I need to look forward to the leadership opportunities that would be mine in the near future. I didn't know that he meant the near NEAR future! Ha. Crazy..  But my new companion's name is Sister Pearson and she's also a sister training leader. So hopefully I'll be able to learn lots from her. :) I'll be in Puyallup South cover 2 wards again! So it should be super exciting. :) Ha I just hope that I can do the things that Heavenly Father wants me to do in this next area.

Saying goodbye to everyone in Dolloff and Star Lake was super sad. There were a lot of tears from the members and I just didn't even know what to do! I just tried to keep a positive attitude cause I'm definitely coming back to see these people again. I just love them all so much!! And I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to touch some lives there. :) Because they all definitely touched mine!

Well I hope you all have a fantastic week! You guys are always in my prayers. Give Skyler a kiss for me!! I miss my little buddy. I love you all so much! And I'll talk to you real soon! I can't even believe that it's almost Christmas!! Ahhh!

All my love,
Sister Flamm

Week 36

Hello Flammily!

What a week! Thanksgiving was pretty good! Definitely not the same... but still good! We had a mission activity that morning and we all got together and played sports and stuff. I didn't know that's what we were going to do though.. so I curled my hair. And not going to lie, it looked dang good! Haha. But then soccer in the RAIN happened. It was so muddy and wet.. and then my hair was destroyed. But no big deal. I'm over it. ;) Haha. After that we had dinner at a members home and then tried to find people to share the gospel with! We met a lady who spoke Persian who let us in her home. She was super nice! We showed her the "He is The Gift" video. I decided that I absolutely can't wait until there isn't a language barrier one day. That'll be nice. :) But if you haven't watched that video yet, DO IT! And then share it with someone.

This week it SNOWED! Haha I got out of the shower and my companion was just staring out the window with the biggest smile on her face. She looked like a little kid at Christmas! Haha. But it snowed about two inches and then guess what? They banned us from driving our cars and riding bikes. They said we had to be on foot for the day! I was like are you kidding me?! This is nothing!! So we had a service project that we had to do at the church that morning that a member took us to. But then we had to walk back home in the freezing cold. Haha it was only like 2ish miles, but it was brutual. And now I know how the Elders who don't have cars feel... haha. But after we made it back home we got a call saying that we could use the cars again. HALLELUJAH! So we were happy about that. :) I did find out that our name tags make great window scrapers though! ;)

A huge miracle happened this week! We've been working with a part member family and the husband committed to be baptized in January!! We were so excited! So now they can start working towards being sealed as a family :) Joe is the dad to that cute little girl that I sent you guys a picture of two weeks ago. I just love them!! And they all came to church for the first time as a family yesterday! I can't wait to come back for his baptism.

Well.. it's not really looking like Angelika is going to be baptized this week. I know.. it's super disappointing. It breaks my heart! But I know that Heavenly Father has something in mind. Something that's greater than my plans. :) It'll all work out!!

I hope everyone is starting to feel better! I'm sorry that the flu hit you guys so hard. That's no fun at all. And Spence, get better and go back to school! You're not ever going to be able to graduate if you don't go to school! Ha. I love you guys so much! Have the best week ever!

Love,
Sister Maurcine Flamm

Week 35

Hello everyone!!

I got to go on exchanges this week and be in a trio again for a day! I went with Sister Goodman and Sister Ballard and it was SO much fun! Man. I just loved it. They are the sweetest girls ever. Good things definitely come in threes! :)
Elder Falabella of the Seventy came to Stake Conference the other day and it was also way good. During the Saturdaynight conference he called up all of the missionaries on stage to sing Called to Serve. I was like you gotta be kidding me. Haha my hair was a mess.. but whatever. It was fine. :) He talked a lot about the Temple and Family History Work. He said that the Temple is the real world and that we will never miss the time that we spend there. It really made me miss the Temple! It feels like I haven't been there in ages.. I can't wait til I get to go to the Seattle one in January!!

He also talked about if we want to help our children, we have to get them involved in Family History. I know that the Spirit enters into our lives as we do the work for our ancestors. It's such an amazing opportunity. :) I can't wait to do more of that work when I get home!

Well.. Angelika is back on date for Dec. 5th! Keep praying for her though cause it's working! She's still pretty nervous.. but I know that she can do it. I can't wait for you guys to meet her. Man. I swear we're long lost sisters or something. :)

I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving! I'm so grateful for all of you in my life. I'm also so thankful for my Savior and for the opportunity that we have to partake of the Sacrament each week and become better. Cause I sure have a lot to work on. :)

I LOVE YOU ALL!!! And I hope everyone starts feeling better!!
-Sister Maurcine Flamm

Week 34

Hello! :)

Well.. this week I got to make some apple pie filling! So that was exciting because I didn't get to help out with it at home this year! It turned out pretty great! But nothing tops yours, mom. :)

We had a ward party this week and we had Turkey Bowling. Haha it was so awesome! I bowled a 20 pound turkey and got a spare! Ha I totally nailed it. And my team won.. so it was pretty much the best. :)

Well yesterday was like the best and worst day ever. Angelika texted us yesterday morning and told us that she wouldn't be able to make it to church. As I sat in Sacrament meeting it seemed like every talk would've benefited her SO much! So I sat there pondering why Heavenly Father didn't provide the way for her to make it. Then after church we texted her and she told us that she would be able to go to the devotional with us. So we were happy that she'd at least be able to go to that! Then an hour before we were supposed to leave she told us that she wouldn't make it home in time. We decided to act on faith and just show up at her house anyways. We knocked on her door and... she wasn't home. By this time I was getting a little frustrated! So I called her and she said that she'd be home in 15 minutes. We decided to wait for her and to make a long story short, she finally made it! We went to the devotional (a little late) and she definitely felt the Spirit. As we sat in the chapel she said, "Wow. This building is beautiful! But now I just really miss my church." She then told me how she really wished she would have gone to church and how she was sad that she would have to wait a whole other week now. I saw tears in her eyes and knew that she was being sincere.

I know that Heavenly Father truly does know what's best. Angelika had to miss coming to church yesterday so that she could feel the difference between going and not going. Heavenly Father then gave her the desire to attend church again! After that experience I've realized that I need to more fully trust in Him. He knows His children better than I do and He will prepare the way for them!

So please keep praying for Angelika. She needs the prayers!! Pray that she will take a leap of faith and get baptized soon! She's so close. :)

Want to hear the worst news though? :/ Our area is getting shut down. Meaning they're taking the Sisters out and are just leaving the Elders. So that means I'm getting transferred in 3 weeks. I'm so sad!!! I don't want to leave this area.. and I don't want to leave Angelika either. I know that the Elders and this ward will take care of her, but it's going to be hard to leave. Buuuut... It'll all work out for the best. It always does. :)

I love you all sooo much. Have a fantastic week and I'll talk to you later! :)
All my love,
Sista Flamm

Week 33

Hello Flammily and Friends! :)

What a week!! Elder James J. Hamula of the Seventy came to our mission on Monday! It was pretty much AWESOME. :) He talked about what we can do to improve as a mission and gave us a lot of good counsel. He also talked about changing who we are. If there are things we want to work on we can accomplish it! For example, if we want to more kind, we have to act kind. We have to change our outward actions before our inward desires change. I've definitely seen that on my mission thus far. Especially with charity. I've gained more charity for others as I've sincerely prayed for it and then acted. I know that service is key as we try to change our natural man selves.

I was also able to have a one on one interview with Elder Hamula! President Eaton prayed about it and then picked 10 missionaries to be interviewed by him. So that was a HUGE privilege! I wish I could've talked to him all day. He is a cool guy. :) I was tempted to ask him to take a selfie with me.. but that probably would've ruined our spiritual meeting. Haha. But he really helped me answer some questions that I had about the sacrament. I want the sacrament to completely change who I am! And Elder Hamula reminded me that little by little, it will. But I have to work at it and prepare for it each week.

We also watched this awesome video that you should all watch. :) https://www.lds.org/youth/video/pure-and-simple-faith?lang=eng
It definitely brought tears to my eyes! I know that as we have faith in our Savior, we will be apart of miracles.

I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that He lives. I also want you all to know that I LOVE YOU. Thank you for everything :) I'll talk to ya'll next week! :)
(Haha ya'll.. Sister Mobley's accent must be rubbing off on me a little bit. :)

All my love,
Sister Maurcine Flamm
P.S. Happy Birthday to Dakota!! And Tays J tomorrow!! :)

Week 32

Hello!

I hope you all had a fantastic week! I really don't have a lot to update you on... We did go out with Angelika and a member in our ward to go and get frozen yogurt though! Sister Argyle talked to Angelika about her experience in joining the church. She told her that she was terrified to get baptized because she was doing it alone and without any support from her family at all. She also said that she really didn't connect with the young women. It was PERFECT for Angelika. They had such similar experiences! I think it brought her a lot of comfort knowing that she's not the only one who is experiencing these things though. Please, please, please keep praying for Angelika. She needs the strength to take this leap of faith. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to do it alone.. but I know that baptism is the way. I know that as we continue to pray for her that Heavenly Father will provide a way. She will get baptized when it's the right time. :) I sure love that girl.

Thanks for all of the pictures of Ethan's baptism! I'm still sad that I couldn't make it.. but the pictures made it better. Give Ethan a big ol hug for me!! I'm proud of him. :)

I love you all so very much. Stay strong and live the gospel.
All my love,
Sister Maurcine Flamm

Week 31

Whew.. hello everyone!

My mind has been completely blown with all of the things that are going on back at home! Welcome home Kiah and Joseph!! I can't believe people actually come home from their missions! ;) Haha. I'm so happy for Maddi and Emily though. They are going to make excellent missionaries. They're in for the time of their lives! Missionary work is amazing :)

So this week has been full of miracles. We met a less active family who asked us to keep coming by so that we can help them get active again. Ha we were so shocked!! But of course we gladly agreed. :)

The Iraq family had some sort of water leak in their house and water was EVERYWHERE. So we borrowed a dry-vac from one of our members and went to work! We sucked up at least 70 gallons of water out of their carpet and that wasn't even all of it! We then got in contact with the apartment manager and they were able to clean up the rest. The Iraq family was so happy! I'm so grateful that we were able to help them out. :)

We also met another less active a few weeks ago who invited us to come to her house and teach her and her family.Sister Villa and her son got baptized a little more than a year ago and then her husband and daughter aren't members yet. They are thee funniest people I have ever met! Haha I thought I was going to die last night because I was laughing so hard. But we also had a very spiritual lesson as well. We talked about the Book of Mormon and bore testimony of it's truth. You could tell that Bro. Villa was definitely touched by the Spirit. They were so sweet and thanked us for coming over. Then they invited us over for dinner and a lesson next week! I hope that we'll be able to continue to teach them! But Spanish is their first language.. so we might have to refer them to the Spanish Sisters. But we'll see. :) Bro. Villa said we could help him improve on his English and that he'd teach us Spanish. Cause one year of Spanish in High School clearly wasn't enough for me.. haha.

I hope you all have a fantastic week! Keep looking for the miracles in your life. :) And check out this new Bible video because it's pretty much amazing. I love you all!!!

Love,
Hermana Flamm ;)

P.S. Good luck with your baptism this week, Ethan!! I wish I could be there to see you. But I'm so grateful that you are making the decision to follow our Savior. :)

Week 30

Dear Flammily and friends,

Angelika hasn't set a new baptismal date yet.. but please keep praying for her! She really is going through a lot in her life right now. I know that she can get through it though because she truly does have a strong testimony. I think she understands a lot more than I did when I was 15! She's amazing and I know that I'm in this area for her. :)

I've seen quite a difference as I have tried to make the sacrament more meaningful in my life recently. As I've read talks about the sacrament and scriptures on it I have really strengthened my testimony and understanding of my Savior's Atonement. I sat by an older man at church yesterday who is completely blind. As we were preparing for the sacrament, I glanced over at him and saw that he had his hands in his lap with one palm facing upwards. The deacon passing the sacrament then stood in front of him to offer the bread. I then realized that he would need help taking a piece of bread! So I grabbed one and told him that I was putting it into his hand. He was very appreciative and told me thank you so much. He then kept the bread in his hands for a few moments before he put it into his mouth. Then as the water was being passed, he sat there with his thumb and index finger sticking out so that he would be able to grab the cup when it was placed in his hands. I sat there and tried my best to hold back the tears as I watched this man truly prepare himself to partake of the sacrament. He was so anxious to do it! After that I thought of our Savior and how he suffered and died for every single one of us. He died so that all of us would one day be able to be resurrected and have perfect immortal bodies. I know that because of Jesus Christ, this humble man will one day receive his sight and be made pure. I'm so very grateful for my Savior. I know that He lives! And His love is real.

We are SO blessed to have this gospel in our lives. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to partake of the sacrament each week and be cleansed from my mistakes. Cause I am definitely not perfect.

I love you all so much!! And I challenge each of you to make partaking the sacrament a more meaningful experience in your lives. I'm going to continue to do that as well! Have a great week. :)

Week 29

Life is full of disappointments sometimes. Angelika texted us the other day and said that she wanted to hold off on her baptism this week. I was completely heartbroken when I heard that! But as I've prayed about it Heavenly Father has really comforted me. I know that she will still get baptized! She just needs a little bit more time. All I want is for her to become truly converted. And I trust that Heavenly Father will continue to prepare her. And when the time is right she will be ready. :)

We had the opportunity to teach a lady from China this week! Her name is Jessie and she's friends with a family in our ward. The Lund family went to China a few years ago and taught English. And while they were there they gained a strong friendship with Jessie and her family. So Jessie and her daughter came to Washington for a few weeks to visit them! We were able to teach her the Restoration and it was such a spiritual lesson. Sister Lund and her daughter sat in as well and they bore such sweet testimonies! I wish we could have members with us at all of our lessons! They really make the difference. At the end of the lesson we all knelt down in their family room and Jessie offered the prayer. She took her time and you could tell that it truly was a two way communication between her and her Father in Heaven. All of us were just in tears at the end of it! Ahh.. It was amazing. Moments like that just make it all worth it. :)

I love you all so very much! Thanks for everything that you do to help me. And thanks for all of the prayers! It's definitely giving me strength. :) Have a great week!

Week 28

Hello Flammily! :)

Whew.. what a week :) Conference was pretty much amazing! I loved it so much. We were able to watch the Sundaymorning session at a member's home with Angelika. We gave her a little notebook to write down questions and thoughts that she had and she definitely did that! After the session was over she told us that she was feeling a little unsure about being baptized on October 18th. But during conference someone talked about how no unclean thing can dwell in the presence of God. So then she told us that she knew that she needed to get baptized so that she could be worthy to live with our Heavenly Father again someday. Ahhh. Words can't even describe how happy I was :) Ha as a mission we've really been trying to help our investigators to learn by faith and find answers for themselves. Because we can share experiences all day long with them! But it's not until they experience things for themselves that it really clicks and means something personal to them. It's hard because it takes a lot more preparation on our part, but it's totally worth it. :)

We got to watch Meet the Mormons as a mission this last week! Everyone needs to go watch it. It was SOOO good! I really enjoyed it. But I don't know.. maybe that's because I haven't seen a movie in over 6 months? ;) Haha. But seriously. Go to it at take your friends!! It's a very non-threatening way to share the gospel :)

The biggest thing that I got out of conference was that I need to make the Sacrament a more meaningful and spiritual experience. I truly do love my Savior and I know that it is because of His Atonement that I can be cleansed and make it back to my heavenly home.

I liked what Elder Hamula said in conference. He said, "By the power of the resurrection, all of us will be restored to the presence of God. That reality presents to us the fundamental question of our lives. The fundamental question facing all of us is not whether we live, but with whom we will live after we die. While everyone of us will return to the presence of God, not everyone of us will remain with him." I love that statement! It's completely up to us whether or not we live with our Heavenly Father and Savior. I want you all to know that I love all of you! And I want to live in Heaven with all of my friends and family someday. :)

I hope you all feel the love of our Savior this week. And when you feel it, share it. Help others to feel the love as well. :)

Love you all sooo much.

Week 27

Hello!

So.. I totally cursed myself. The other day I was thinking of how blessed I was because I really hadn't been sick on my mission! And then boom. It hit me. On Friday we had to stay in the apartment ALL DAY LONG because I felt like crap. It was the worst!! And the longest day of my mission. Pretty sure that Angelika got me sick. Haha but it's all good! Because I'm pretty much over it now. :) Haha but it was funny because yesterday at church I wore my glasses because my contact irritated my eye. So I'm sure I looked real good with my red eye, glasses, and runny nose! ;) Ha but Aiden came up to me and was like, "What's wrong with your eye? Did you touch a jalapeno and get it in your eye??" Haha it was pretty funny. That kid cracks me up :)

Angelika is still on date for the 18th of October! She feels like that's the right date for her. :) At our lesson the other night she told us that there's a mormon boy in her class named Ammon. (What a perfect name, right? :) She told us that she really admires him because he's bold and tells everyone that he's a member of the church. She said that she wanted to tell him that she was almost a member as well! But that she was just too scared. I love that Angelika is able to see and know strong youth who boldly declare who they are. We all need to boldly declare who we are as well. We are all sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father who knows us perfectly! We need to show the world who we are and what we stand for :)

I hope everyone has a great week this week! And Happy Birthday to Lydia and Alyssa yesterday! :) I love you all so much. Please continue to pray for Angelika! And also the Iraq family. They're really struggling because their mother Norea passed away last week. But I know that they can get through this trial because death is not the end!
All my love,

Sister Maurcine Flamm

"He is offering the grand recipe for happiness, peace, and eternal life. To qualify for these glorious blessings you must humble yourself, exercise faith, take upon you the name of Christ, seek him in word and deed and resolutely stand as a witness of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places." -Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Week 26

Hello!! Happy Monday everyone! Ha Monday's are the greatest days :)
This week was awesome!! We found a new investigator this week who we taught the Restoration to. Her name is Tealiscia (Ta-lee-see-uh) and she's 16 years old. You can tell that she really wants more truth and direction in her life. And guess what? She committed to be baptized on November 1st!! We have our next lesson with her tonight and we're praying that her mom and brother will be there and sit in on it as well!
So... Angelika is AWESOME. She came to church and the missionary devotional last night even though she wasn't feeling well. Before sacrament meeting started she told me how she's felt the Spirit in her life lately. She then said that she felt like she is a member already but just hasn't been baptized. She talked about how all of the things she's learning is changing her for the better and how she just strives to do what's right. So then I asked her about baptism and if she was ready to make that commitment yet. And she said yes! So we told her to think and pray about a date. :)
So she went home after sacrament meeting and I prayed and prayed that she'd be able to make it to the devotional that night. Heavenly Father answered my prayer and she was able to make it! After it was over President Eaton announced that the next devotional would be on the 19th of October. So I leaned over to Angelika and said, "You should get baptized on the 18th. :)" I don't know why I said that.. but I'm pretty certain that it was the Spirit! But then she nodded her head and said, "Yeah I think so too!" I was SO shocked and so excited!! So we encouraged her to pray about that date and get the confirmation from Heavenly Father. Ahh... it was awesome!! Then as we were talking to everyone afterwards she went up to the Bishop and told him that she was going to get baptized! Haha I about died. Greatest moment of my life! I know that the Spirit is working in Angelika's life right now and I'm so grateful that she's recognizing that.
The church is true, my friends. :) It's exciting to be able to watch this gospel change the lives of our brothers sisters. I am SO blessed to be able to be apart of this great work. :)
I've got to run but If you could all please pray for Angelika and Tealiscia I would very much appreciate it. :) I love you all!!! :)
-Sister Maurcine Flamm

Week 25

Hello!
So news is that I'm getting a new companion! I'm staying here in Federal Way and Sister Kirschner is getting transferred. So we'll see how things go! Ha. I'll get my new companion today. Pray for us!!

My Bishop in the Star Lake ward gave a talk on Sunday that really stood out to me. So I wanted to share a little bit of the insights that I got from it :)

He started out talking about when the apostles saw Christ walking on the water. In Matthew 14:25-33 it says,
"25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"

First of all, Peter had the desire to walk on the water. And because of his desire, Christ told him to come! So Peter started walking on the water towards Christ. He then became afraid and started to sink. He cried out for help from our Savior and immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand and lifted him up. Bishop then started talking about how sometimes we doubt and become afraid and as we cry out for help, Christ is there to save us. But this is the interesting part to me. Christ didn't just pick Peter up out of the water and carry him back to the boat. He took him by the hand and walked with him. So Peter was still walking on water! But with the help of our Savior. I know that sometimes things in life seem impossible, but we too can "walk on water" because of Him.
Sorry it's kind of hard to put into words what I'm thinking in my head.. ha so I hope that made a little bit of sense. But I hope everyone has a fantastic week! I love you all so much :) If you could keep Norea and the rest of the Iraq family in your prayers that would be greatly appreciated. I don't think Norea is going to make it much longer because the cancer has spread throughout her body. :/ It breaks my heart but I know that she'll be free from the pain soon.
I love you all!!
Lots of Love,

Week 24

Oh my goodness.. this week was just full of miracles!! Miracle #1- Aiden got baptized!!! It was a very spiritual baptism. :) His older brother was supposed to give the talk on baptism but wasn't able to get off work in time. So Aiden says, "Oh I know! You can just do it Sister Flamm!" I was like uhhh... Sister Kirschner would love to do it! Haha I'm not so good at on the spot things. Nooo way. Haha but I gladly gave the closing prayer :) But it all worked out great! Sister Kirschner did a great job at winging it. After the baptism I asked Aiden how he felt and he told me that he was really happy and that it felt right. :)

Miracle #2- Angelica (our investigator) attended Aiden's baptism and loved it!! We haven't been able to teach her for like 2 months because she got a job as a nanny. But now we're finally able to teach her again! She told me after the baptism that she started reading from the Book of Mormon again. She said that she started reading and then just kept going! She said that it just brought her a lot of comfort and peace. I'm telling you.. she's GOLDEN!!

Miracle #3- Aiden received the gift of the Holy Ghost!!

Miracle #4- Aiden's dad came to church to witness Aiden's confirmation!!! I can't even tell you how exciting that was!!! He walked in with a Mariner's jersey, dress pants, dress shoes, and with a huge grin on his face. Haha it was the greatest thing ever!! He thought it was funny that we were so shocked to see him :) He hasn't been to a church in years and years. So this was huge!

After Aiden's confirmation I asked him how he felt again and he said that it felt complete :) Man, he's just such an amazing little guy. I love him so much! I know that Baptism is necessary for us to be able to return to live with Heavenly Father again someday. But I also know that baptism is just the first step. This gospel is a way of life! I wish I could tell you all of the other miracles that I've been able to be apart of this week, but I'm out of time. I love you all so much and I hope that you have a great week!!

"19 And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.
20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life."

Week 23

Hello Flammily and Friends! :)

I don't have a lot of time because my computer keeps crashing.. so I'm praying that it'll work for a few more minutes so that I can tell you a little bit about my week!

After leaving a lesson from a member's home last night, we saw their neighbors across the street outside. We went over, started talking to them, and were able to teach the the Restoration right then! They set up some chairs for us outside and then brought out a loaf of zuchinni bread and water for us. I'm telling you... I have run into some of the most gracious people in the world here. These people don't even know me, yet they are so willing to serve and give me what they have! They are such great examples to me. Ahh.. I have SO much to learn. But I love it. :) So anyways, we started teaching them about the Restoration. As we were talking about Joseph Smith one of the ladies named Nomi said, "You're giving me goosebumps!!" I wish you all could have felt the Spirit that was present at that time!! We've really been striving to help all of our investigators to feel and recognize the Spirit in our lessons lately. I know that the Holy Ghost is the ultimate teacher and I pray that I can say the right things and allow Him to work through me! But we're going to go back and teach Gloria and Nomi this week. So if you could pray for them I would greatly appreciate it. :)

I know that this isn't a Mormon Message, but I want you all to watch it. It has such a great message!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaWA2GbcnJU

I'm so very grateful for the opportunity that I have to serve My Savior. I know that this is the most important work that we can all be involved in. :) Look for ways to help those in need this week!

"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
-Mosiah 2:17

I love you all!!! Talk to you next week! :)

Week 22

Welcome to the Flammily Kinsley Mae!!! Ahhh.. she is so precious! I just love her so much :) I keep praying that all will go well and that she'll be healthy and strong!

We had our missionary devotional last night and it was SO powerful. I just wish I could video it and send it to all of you! We watched this video and tears just came to my eyes immediately.

I think the biggest thing that I've learned on my mission so far has been that My Savior LIVES. I know that with all of my heart! I know that every single one of us matter to Him. So try to think of something this week that you can work on to show Him your appreciation for all that He has done for us. :)

So Aiden is still committed to baptism on August 30! Less than two weeks! I'm so excited :) We went over to his house for a lesson on Saturday night and the whole family sat in on the lesson and participated! It was such a spiritual experience. Afterwards Brother Blanco told us thank you for teaching his son. He told us that he was raised Catholic but fell away because of some hurt feelings. He said that he knew that what we were doing was hard work and that he really appreciated it. My heart melted when he told us that. He was being so sincere! And that's not like him at all. He usually is joking around and speaking really fast in spanish so that we can't understand him. Ha but it was amazing to be able to see his heart soften. I hope and pray that it will continue to soften as he experiences Aiden's baptism. :)

Well I've got to get going. Thanks to everyone that emailed me this week! And I'm sorry that I wasn't able to reply to all of you. But just know that I love you!! :)
Take care :)

Week 21

Well hello everyone :)

I feel like not a whole lot has happened this week. Sister Kirschner and I are trying to get to know the area better and find our way around! It's a good thing we have a GPS because Sister Muir is the one that knew how to get everywhere.. and now she's gone! So it's kind of a bummer. But we'll figure it out sometime!

So how about this picture? Hahah. I stopped a softball game and made all of these old men get in a picture for me. I told them that my dad would love it. :) Haha so the shirts say "casket ready" and the hats say "R.I.P". Pretty good, huh! Ha it made me laugh. Almost as good as our soccer shirts that said, "Flamm's knock 'em dead". :)

Sorry this email is super short.. but I hope you all are having a good summer! I love you all SO much and I will talk to you next week. :)

Week 20

Marrhaba! Slonage?

This week my favorite Iraq family taught me some Arabic. Haha. Marrhaba means hello and slonage means how are you. :)

Well our little trio has come to an end! Sister Muir is being transferred and Sister Kirschner and I are staying in Federal Way. I'm glad to stay but sad to see Sister Muir go. She is such an amazing missionary. She has really helped me to come out of my comfort zone! And I don't think I've laughed as hard as I have this transfer. Haha having 2 companions is just greatest thing. I'd definitely recommend it. Ha

So as we were walking around the other day we saw a family outside. Pretty sure they were all smoking and I really didn't want to go over there... but we did anyways! Because they're all children of God. :) So we started talking to them and I was seriously scared for my life. There was a mom and 3 teenage girls. They all just kind of stared at us and I thought for sure that they were going to beat us up! So we gave them a mormon.org card and tried to leave. Then one of the girls just started asking us a bunch of questions and wanted to know why we aren't Christians. (Which we are Christians... but whatever) So we tried to answer their questions but it wasn't really going anywhere. So again, we tried to leave. Then one of the girls said, "Oh you're not leaving until I understand!" Haha it was so scary. So we continued to talk to them and by this time, we were just talking to 2 of the teenage girls because everyone else left. After some time one of the girls, Sunshine, broke down and told us how she didn't think God was there. And if he was, He wasn't answering her prayers. It was such an amazing experience. We were able to testify to her that God is there and that He loves both of them. After that we left them with a prayer and I know that they felt the Spirit. It was so amazing!!

Ahh.. I wish I had more time, but I've got to go! But if you haven't already, go watch the new Mormon Message. We've been able to share it quite a bit this week with people who don't believe in God. I testify that He is there and that He hears and answers all of our prayers. I hope you all have a great week!

Ahebkome!!
